A/N: This short started life as a fanfiction, written for a smutprompt community. My dearest love suggested that I try converting it into a sellable form, to see what might come of it. I did, and it saw publication in an e-zine dedicated to dark erotica. It was my first sale.

Due to life circumstances, the editor had to close the doors on the e-zine. Though the story is still archived there, I have received permission to post it myself now, and rather than try selling it again, I’ve decided to try converting it one more time: from erotica to a portion of a full-length novel (gods grant that it stays that short!).

This may be the only time a fanfic has preceded the original work it will have been based upon. The very thought of that makes me smile.
